Summer shipping 2026
1So summer shipping finally started, a few weeks after summer weather arrived but hey. As we all know hold option should be available year 'round…but whatever… I’m wondering how inventories are being handled between the buckets this year, last year was a cluster if I recall. And last year, if you chose to ship now, wasn’t it expedited shipping, not standard? Seems this year it is hold until October (or is it December) or ship standard.
Ok, went back and looked at an offer from last summer, if you chose to ship now… “Packages have been upgraded to 2-day transit for increased protection.”
Apparently that protection is no longer considered necessary. WD is one stubborn b*astard when it comes to shipping right? ha!!

Although “If you want protected summer shipping, click here” is mentioned, but no details…is that expedited shipping or maybe just styro…? Which in that case bfd
I think the wording suggests it’s cold chain across the country to local hub and then single-day transit on the delivery vehicle.
@klezman
Which really doesn’t much west-coast-ish folks.
Styro at least.
@klezman @rjquillin which is what I believe rws is doing but it’s spelled out over there if I recall without looking
@klezman I guess I did miss it, don’t recall that initially. Most likely makes no matter to me anyway, generally still hotter than snot in SC in October. I would actually prefer the ship date that was posted in error in early December
hello. refrigerated trucks will be used to get to hubs across the country. once handed off, it will be 1 and sometimes 2 day transit. packages are consolidated weekly.
for northwest and a few other states, it will be styro and an ice pack (when necessary) to be included.
i’m happy to answer any more questions about this.
