My notes were written before looking at any wine specs or Googled notes to keep them honest. Tasted at 1:30pm then now at 5pm.
1:30 notes:
Color: deep with a purplish hue. The wine is clear and shows no bricking or haze
Aroma is powerful and youthful. It smells like Zin! I get darker fruits like plum and some cocoa or milk chocolate with nutmeg or allspice
The wine is between dry/off dry. Definitely a tad sweet with some RS but not too much
It is full bodied with fresh acidity that keeps it from being flabby at all
The tannins are low/medium and I would say rounded
I feel the wine is a bit off balance because of the hot alcohol that permeates
I pegged it at around 15.5 alcohol but label says 14.5 no way it’s 14.5 imho
It has a powerful taste of dark fruits, it’s zin spicy, and some nutmeg or the like
Has a medium finish and medium legs
This is a new world zin that’s meant to be a crowd pleaser
I honestly tasted some port BUT that’s my mind playing tricks on me since I know earlier iterations of inzinerator had a small percentage of port style wine.
I am giving it 3.5/5 mainly because I prefer more feminine or lighter zins these days but there’s nothing wrong with the wine (except a bit alcoholic) and is well made.
5pm tasting at 66 degrees and I prefer it colder. It’s a bit too much for me in terms of weight and sweetness. I am very sensitive to RS in my wine
Made a birria bomb in the slow cooker and will report back on the pairing which I suspect will be great
@losthighwayz thanks for the review. It’s like what I remember from a long-ago vintage. Probably great for some but a bit too much intensity/RS for me. I looked but didn’t find any old bottles but might still have some once I dig further.
So, what is a birria bomb? I want to make one!

@pmarin picture a bath bomb but made of spices. Sear chuck roast, add some garlic, onion, beef broth, and the birria bomb to a slow cooker and slow cook! Quite tasty and easy to make
I know! When I was growing up the only (non-militant) thing were stink bombs (and maybe insect bombs – the spray cans that you trigger and flee the space). Then came bath bombs, shower bombs, and how spice bombs!
I suppose if you want to live on the wild side, you could use one as a bath bomb.
Years ago I had a t-shirt that said Picante and Sabroso. That would definitely do it.
Hi everyone, Great to be back on Casemates. The ratage describes the wine well. It is a wine that the Wooters were involved in developing 20 years ago. All my Zinfandels are made in the old word style except this one where we add a small amount of our port (Forte) to appeal to the new world Zin drinkers. While I still maintain the old world acidity to balance the RS.
I didn’t complete my search for InZin, but found a Poizin 2005 Sonoma County by Armida. Was surprisingly mellow, but nice; probably 20 years cellared helped that, but it survived well. Also found a 375ml of Antidote which I think was bundled with a Poizin offer on the old site. Good times!. I think the Poizin was often sold before Halloween.
Still watching the boards if you have any questions. Back 20 years ago we made a number of different versions of InZinerator and sold them on Woot. The Wooters then decided which version they liked best. This is the same version they voted for. Cheers, Scott

@rjquillin Hi Ron, I went back to the opening page for this offer and the blend says that there is 9% Barbera. There is no Barbera in this blend. The 9% is Forte. Blend is 83% Zinfandel, 9%Forte, and 8% Petite Sirah.
I’ve had Inzinerator in my cellar for a long time.
The wine most likely to be gifted to friends.
And, I do need some more…can’t drink the bottles with the special labels.

Bought the Winemakers Reserve Zin about a year & a half ago and have been reluctant to open the last bottle. Hoping this is just as good.

I’m curious, the blend sounds interesting and Scott makes great wines, so I ordered the 6 pack.
